It is an alert for all the google drive user who uses google drive to backup their data in it which about i am here to tell you. The alert is all about your android mobile data backup. Recently a news came out that - Google may delete your backup data if you are inactive for 60 or more than 60 days continuously. If you are not an active user of your phone for more than 2 weeks you may see an expiration date in the drive. Your backups are there in the drive as long as you are using your phone otherwise it may go delete. The backup data which google will delete is non-recoverable means you can not get backed up your data again if you deletes your backup.
Google says -
Your backup will remain as long as you use your device. If you don’t use your device for 2 weeks, you may see an expiration date below your backup, for example, expires in 54 days.
GOOGLE WILL DELETE YOUR BACKUP FILES FOR INACTIVITY OF 60 DAYS WITHOUT NOTIFYING YOU
Google also states that if you are not using your google drive they will remove without even notifying you actually. So you can not get notify if your data gets deletes. This policy is not a new for the public or audience who uses smart phones. If you are an aware person about the latest world than you may know that - Apple has a similar policy, and will also delete older iOS backups, as noted by another Reddit user, are-you-really-sure, in a comment.
WHY GOOGLE IS DOING THIS ?
This sound like utter madness, but it's true. If Google thinks you're not using your device, it seems to think that you no longer need the data you have backed up, and will delete it. You won't receive a text, a notification or an email -- your data could just be nuked.(source - betanews.com)
WHAT TO DO WHEN DATA GONE EXPIRES ?
Your data is safe as long as you are using your phone. For an example if you forget to take your mobile phone on a trip than it may be in unused position and google will see you a warning line like this -
Expires in 54 days....
